Popis-štítu / Description:
Prostredný hrot is the highest peak of SE ridge of Široká veža (peak) separating Veľká and Malá Studená dolina (valleys). Prostredný hrot is separated from Malý hrot (peak) by Vyšná štrbina v Prostrednom (notch) and from Chmúrna veža (tower) by Sedlo pred Prostredným (saddle).
SW face
The face is a huge, in the lower section considerably wide massif, which is actually a system of pillars and gullies. Most of the routes end up at the jagged arete in the right part of the peak, which is the most common place to start your descent. The face is suitable for winter climbing as well. There is a pillar in the left part of the wide face and the steep W walls of this pillar are towering over the gully that ends up in the Sedlo za Prostredným (saddle). There is a Komarnického cesta (III) (route) in this pillar with the beginning in already mentioned gully, continues up the ledge to the left, then up the pillar and in the upper section there is a less difficult, but rugged terrain right beneath the summit, opening the possibilities of routes further up the pillar or in different directions.
Getting there:
From Hrebienok (funicular station): You shall follow the red, later on the blue hiking trail in direction of Zbojnícka chata (chalet). You shall turn right behind the bridge, which is crossing the Studenovodský potok (stream) and scramble up the scree to the beginning of particular routes (1,5 hour).

Zostup zo štítu / Descent:

Descent: To Hrebienok: When finished climbing the routes you shall traverse from the jagged arete down to the right through the system of ledges until you reach the gully coming from Sedlo pred Prostredným. You shall descend down the gully, then down scree and through the mountain pines until you reach blue hiking trail. Then you shall continue to the junction at the Rainerova chata (chalet) and from this junction you shall follow the red hiking trail to Hrebienok (1,5 hour). Similarly to Komarnického cesta (route) there are routes no. 1-3 that end up in less rugged terrain with gullies. You shall continue up the gullies to the summit or you shall keep yourself to the right and reach the already mentioned jagged arete. You shall descend from the summit few meters down. Before the steep ridge step you shall turn left to the scree gully, which is located at the same level as Vyšná štrbina v Prostrednom. You shall traverse the spur into the notch. Continue from the SE part of the notch down the groove in N face until you reach scree ramp (Dubkeho lávka) and then turn left to the Sedlo za Prostredným. The rest of the descent is the same as in Malý hrot.
