Mengusovská dolina is one of the largest and most beautiful of (all) the valleys on the southern side of Vysoké Tatry. It is 8 km long and it is opened to S. The Popradský hrebeň (ridge) divides the valley into two greater parts: on E it is Zlomisková dolina with two additional little valleys – Rumanova dolinka and Dračia dolinka; on W it is dolinka pod Váhou (little valley), kotlina Žabích plies (cirque) and Hincova kotlina (cirque). This immense rocky area is separated from Batizovská dolina odn E by ridge of Končistá, from Bielovodská dolina and dolina Rybieho potoka (valley in polish part of Vysoké Tatry) (including lateral ridges) on N it is separated by main ridge of Vysoké Tatry. On W is this valley searated from Hlinské dolina and Mlynická dolina by massif of Kriváň (peak) and the ridge of Bašty. There are many important and famous peaks encircling the valley: Končistá, Zlobivá, Rumanov štít, Ganek, Vysoká, Rysy, Žabí štít, Volia veža, Mengusovské štíty, Čubrina and in a ridge of Bašty - Zadná Bašta, Satan and Patria. In the middle section of the valley (at the upper border of the forest) are located Popradské pleso (tarn) and the mountain hotel. In a little valley beneath the saddle Váha is the chalet in the highest altitude in Vysoké Tatry – Chata pod Rysmi (2250 m). Getting there: From Šrtrbské Pleso follow the red hiking trail (magistrála – 1 hour) to the mountain hotel at the Popradské pleso, or from the tramway station Popradské Pleso follow the blue hiking trail until you reach the hotel (1 hour). To the Chata pod Rysmi: follow the blue hiking trail until you reach the junction with red hiking trail (20 minutes); follow the red serpentine trail to the Žabie plesá (tarns) and to the little valley beneath the Váha (1,45 hour).
