Gerlachovský kotol | Batizovská dolina short, wild valley in high altitude situated to S. It is separated from Velická dolina on E by Gerlachovský štít and Zadný Geralach (peaks) a from Zlomisková dolina on W by the ridge of Končistá (peak). In the upper section of the valley is located rocky tower called Kostolík. Except already mentioned peaks several others are encircling the valley: Batizovský štít, Kačací štít, Malá Končistá and Štôlska veža. In the middle section of the valley is located quite large Batizovské pleso (tarn) with the red hiking trail in the southern banks. Getting there: The most convenient access route is following: start at Sliezsky dom (mountain hotel) and follow the red hiking trail (magistrála – 1,15 hour), or follow the green trail from Tatranská Polianka to the junction with yellow trail (1 hour), continue up the yellow trail (old road) to the next junction, this time with red trail beneath the Suchý vrch (1,15 hour). Follow the red trail 30 minutes and you will get to the Batizovská dolina. |
