It is one of the beautiful valleys on southern side of mountain range Vysoké Tatry. The length of the valley is 4,5 km, the valley has several terraces and it is situated in S and SE direction. The lower section is overgrown with forest and this part of the valley is common to Veľká Studená dolina as well. The stream called Malý Studený potok drains the Pať Spišských plies (five tarns), which are located at the terrace in the upper section of valley. Right next to the tarns is Téryho chata/2015 m (chalet). The valley is encircled by Lomnický hrebeň (ridge) on E, and on NE it is separated from Dolina Zeleného plesa (valley) by massif of Lomnický štít (peak) and its connectional ridge. The valley is separated on N and NW from Javorová Dolina by the main ridge of Vysoké Tatry (including lateral ridges) and on SW it is separated from Veľká Studená dolina by Prostredný hrebeň (ridge). The prominent peaks above the valley are: Lomnický štít, Pyšný štít, Baranie rohy, Ľadový štít, Malý Ľadový štít, Široká veža, Prostredný hrot.Accomodation: There are two chalets in this valley. In lower section of valley is Zamkovského chata (1745) and in the upper part is Téryho chata (2015) Getting there: From Starý Smokovec- you shall take a cable car to Hrebienok (7 minutes), then follow the red hiking trail until you reach a junction with green hiking trail. Follow the green trail and you will reach the chalet in 15 minutes. To get to Téryho chata, you have to follow the green trail further up the valley (1,45 hour).
